A WH( )LY RING(ING)

17 November – 14 December 2018

Solo exhibition by Dave Loder

The Walls of Derry have resisted impregnation since they first arose. The circle of masonry is virginal in circumstance and delivers the city its ‘Maiden’ status. This up-thrust monument – like an unbroken, complete coil – can resonate at frequencies of cosmological purity. Enclosed in a vibrant envelope, the ring(ing) is contagious and ever present occupying vacant spaces, filling in emptiness. This virtually inaudible ringing is made audible, visible and tangible in A wh( )ly ring(ing), an audio installation at the Fashion and Textile Hub.

A wh( )ly ring(ing) was part of Visual Artists Ireland’s ‘New Spaces’ project, and it is kindly supported by Inner City Trust, Visual Artists Ireland and Derry City and Strabane Council. We would also like to thank Void, Golden Thread Gallery and CCA Derry~Londonderry.
